About Me

Palette ”It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” -Pablo Picasso

Welcome to Mrs. Scacco’s artroom blog! I am the art teacher at both Florence L. Walther and Ashbrook schools. I teach pre-school, kindergarten, first grade,  five second grade classes and three third grade classes. During my free time I enjoy spending some creative time with my kids and husband.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic year teaching your children to enjoy, appreciate and create art. We will be learning about the elements of design as we explore new art materials, and learn new ways to use familiar ones. Your child will begin to learn about line and color by drawing and painting; about shape by cutting and folding paper; about texture by making collages and about form by molding clay. We will also spend time examining, and critiquing famous works of art and art from other cultures. Artwork differs from child to child, and I am truly committed to nurturing your child as they create their own masterpieces.

Art Smock
Having an art shirt is important for your child to wear during art class. Students will keep their art shirt in their classroom and wear it to art each week. Please make sure to write their first name on the FRONT and BACK of their art shirt.

Art Work
Students will be making a folder to hold their 2-dimensional artwork. All work will be collected and put into this folder until the end of the year. I will be selecting a few pieces of your child’s artwork for the student art show at their school.

*Please join us from 6:30 – 8:00 on May 15th at FLW and on June 7th at Ashbrook, to see your child’s art work displayed in our annual Art Show.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your support of the art program. Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with your child and meeting you and your family.
