September- Art Portfolio

It is always exciting to start a new year in the art room.

Students made portfolio’s to hold their two dimensional artwork. I feel it is important for them to have a special place to store their work and carry it home at the end of the year. It’s so much better than to see them fold their artwork into quarters and stuff it into their backpacks!

I have to share a few Kindergartner self-portraits. I love how honest their artwork is!k self portrait 2 k self portrait

Welcome

“It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.” – Pablo Picasso

Welcome to another exciting year in the artroom! I’m looking forward to a fantastic year teaching your child to enjoy, appreciate and create art. In class we will be exploring new art materials and learning new ways to use more familiar ones. Your child will build on their knowledge about line and color by drawing and painting; about shape by cutting and folding paper; about texture by making collages and about form by molding clay. We will also spend time examining, and critiquing famous works of art and art from other cultures.

I love watching our little artists grow and develop their talents at Florence Walther and Ashbrook.

Please send in a large art shirt with your child’s name on the front and back for messy projects.

Math and Art Night – First Grade

First Grade Parents,

Join us for the Math and Art Night scheduled for March 18, 2015. Enjoy Math and Art activities that reinforce and expand your child’s knowledge of math though creative art projects.  Students will have fun discovering, with you, as they move from station to station with hands-on activities. Among the activities planned for the night will be: exploring math with shapes, 3D sculptures, monster dice game, tessellations using the IPad, and a Kandinsky inspired mural.

Please e-mail Mrs. Scacco at pscacco@lumberton.k12.nj.us to enroll your child. Include your child’s name and parent attending. Space is limited.
